Dear Parent/Carer and the IGS Community,
You may be increasingly aware through the national media that many schools are struggling to be able to maintain their existing educational provision in the current difficult financial climate, and IGS is no exception.
We are working to raise funds in partnership with the PTA in order to protect our students’ educational experiences and allow us to continue to thrive. Our aim is that IGS will remain the exceptional school that it is at the heart of our community.
It is our ambition to raise £100,000 annually through a combination of strategies including school events, sponsorship, match funding and voluntary donations, and we will be setting up a school fund after half term, where the community, alumni and parents/carers can make donations or give sponsorships to IGS - more details to follow.
We would very much appreciate the full support of the wider IGS community in our fundraising efforts, so if you feel that you could spare some time to support us, please do get in touch with us or with the PTA (PTA@ilkleygs.co.uk). We will also be setting up an IGS fundraising Facebook page, as well as planning various fundraising events throughout the year, so please watch out for further details of these in future ‘Headlines’ and join us if you are interested in supporting us.
As a first step this week, we are asking our whole community to sign up to ‘easyfundraising’.
It doesn't cost you a thing, but if you could register via the link below, whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to your annual holiday - you will be collecting free donations for Ilkley Grammar School PTA. We have just 27 people registered as supporters at the moment but they have generated £259 so far this year.
There are over 3,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's – it doesn't cost you a penny extra and could greatly benefit the school in the run up to Christmas!
1. Head to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ilkleygrammarschoolpta/ and join for free. It's nothing too detailed - just name, email and password.
2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping. Or (to make it really easy) choose to download the ‘Donation Reminder’ so every time you're browsing on a relevant site you will get a one-click reminder to activate the donation.
3. After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to IGS PTA for no extra cost to you whatsoever! There are no catches or hidden charges.
After half term there will be more information about how we hope the community can support us further.
