At IGS we aim to celebrate diversity and champion equality, ensuring that it lies at the heart of the school’s vision and ethos.

Throughout the month of June Safe Space and LGBTQ+ iLeaders have made plans to mark Pride month in a number or ways:

  • 2022-06-30 Pride Month Poster LSSelling badges during PBT for people to wear during the month of June. badges cost 50p and all money raised will be donated to charity. 
  • Pride flags displayed around school with posters promoting and explaining PRIDE month.
  • Holding celebratory assemblies championing our individuality and diversity.
  • Year 9 Diversity Day 

Friday 17th June - Year 9 Diversity Day

We have the pleasure of bringing our second ever Diversity Day to Year 9 students as a Celebration of Equality and Inclusion.

Vision for Diversity Day

This day is a step on our journey to ensure that we have a respectful and inclusive culture where there are no ‘by-standers’ and that diverse characters are represented within the dynamic of our school, reflecting our rich and cohesive community.

There will be a carousel of workshops throughout the day:  Wellbeing; Sign language; LGBTQ+; World religions;  Origami & Japanese Art; African Drumming; World Dance; Art; Guide Dogs; Gender Equality; Neurodiversity; Anti-bullying.

Ilkley Pride posterSaturday 2nd July - Ilkley Pride

This is Ilkley's first ever Pride event for which the logo was designed by a current IGS student! Lots of entertaining acts are scheduled throughout the day at Kings Hall and the Winter Garden. Including an ex-IGS student and 'Britain's Got Talent' semi-finalist, Mark Wood, from Bosom Buddies.

Tickets are available online here, at The Grove Bookshop and the Ilkley Tourist and Information Centre. The afternoon session is FREE for under 18's.

If you would like to volunteer as a steward, the event organisers would like to hear from anyone over 16 who can spare some time. Anyone helping out will gain free entry. Please email or contact 07740797281 or message through Facebook.

The Ilkley Pride Flag 

has been made within the community consisting of over 230 individual patches. IGS Safe Space students, Diversity and Community iLeaders also created patches to help build the flag which will be flown over Ilkley Town Hall, Brooke Street and White Wells.
