The PTA met on Tuesday 2nd March and our Treasurer was pleased to report that recent fundraising efforts meant that we had enough money to release £3,000 for the accredited training course for Mr Adams, the recently appointed ‘Mental Health Champion’. It is hoped that Mr Adams will undertake the course over the next few months.

The PTA also set a target to raise £5,000 for the DT department to fund the refurbishment of existing equipment and the purchase of new equipment which would benefit students from Year 7 all the way through to A-level students in Post-16. The aim would be to have all these things incorporated into learning schemes for the start of the new academic year in September 2021. Already we have been able to release £4,000 of our target to the DT department. In addition, the school have themselves funded a full refurbishment and upgrade to the 26 desktop computers that are used in the L Block DT rooms so that they are compatible with more up-to-date 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software tools suitable for 21st century design. A separate note of thanks with full details of the upgrade work being undertaken by the DT department can be found here.

We would also like to add our thanks to all parents and carers that have been generous in their recent donations for these two very important initiatives that the PTA is seeking to support. Over recent months, we have received some very generous donations via GoFundMe and a recent Your School Lottery winner even donated their winnings! Thank you all so much!

Of course, we still need to raise more for the DT project and we anticipate that further demand on the school’s mental health support services will mean that even more investment will be needed in this area over the coming months. Please therefore consider whether you can make a donation to the PTA via our GoFundMe page here.

Alternatively, you might like to support our other virtual fundraising options - Your School Lottery, amazon smile and easyfundraising. We will be issuing a separate note about these options shortly.

Finally, if you know of any local technology related businesses that might be interested in sponsoring our DT project, we would love to hear from you.

Should you have any queries, please contact us at any time via email at

Many thanks.
