KS3 Bradford Schools Dance Competition

On Monday 4th April IGS were the hosts for this inaugural competition!

Six schools across Bradford and Skipton participated, including our partner Trust school, The Skipton Academy. It was wonderful to see the talent on display and the range of performances ranging from moving lyrical pieces to upbeat contemporary numbers. Miss Holgate had been trying to organise this event for the last two years and it was lovely to see it finally come to fruition, witness the enjoyment on students’ faces and experience the buzz of friendly competition.

IGS had three separate acts. One of our Year 7/8 groups performed "The Greatest Showman" whilst our Year 9 group treated us to a Sia mash-up! Our other Year 7/8 group were awarded overall first prize by the independent panel of three local judges for their dance entitled "Helium". The dances could be from any genre and were judged on their technical and expressive elements, teamwork and originality.

Well done to everyone who participated to help make the event a huge success and a big thank you to the backstage team who ensured the show ran seamlessly.

We look forward to hosting the competition again in the next academic year!
