Students
Ilkley Grammar School is proud of its excellent reputation in the local community and of its long service to the education of students in the Wharfe Valley.
In the STUDENT section of the website you will be able to find out lots of important information about the Personal Best Values which lie at the heart of the school’s vision and purpose, about the Curriculum (the subjects you study in your timetable each year), about the options processes which take place in Years 8 and 9 as well as information about exams taking place in Key Stage 4.
There is also a summary of the staff structure which summarises all the different members of staff who hold positions of responsibility in the school alongside teachers and support staff.
In the students section there is also information about different aspects of Personal Development – Next Steps, Mental Health, Extra-curricular and Trips and Visits. These will also be shared with you on Showbie, but the information is also available here if you need to check anything or can’t access Showbie.
As a comprehensive Academy we quite simply want everyone to achieve their Personal Best, whatever their individual talents and aspirations.
We achieve outstanding examination results, but we believe that every child is a unique individual and not a statistic. All staff at IGS work hard to nurture successful, happy and confident learners who achieve the Personal Best in the widest sense of the word.
Our Latin motto sapientia et statura proficiamus (growing in wisdom and stature) is over 400 years old but remains true. The ultimate aim of your academic and personal development journey with us is for you to grow as individuals in wisdom and stature.
At IGS inclusion matters as much excellence - in results, sports, music, enrichment, and all other walks of school life, which is why the phrase ‘Personal Best’ matters so much to us, because if we each participate and try our best, we always can be proud of whatever we ultimately achieve.
