Last Wednesday morning we were delighted to welcome representatives from 18 local voluntary organisations to Ilkley Grammar School as part of our annual Leadership & Enrichment Fayre. This year over 2000 students visited the Sports Hall over the course of the morning and were introduced to over 30 different leadership opportunities and the 80 extra-curricular clubs on offer at IGS this year.

Students will be encouraged to sign up to extra-curricular clubs over the coming weeks in Tutor Time.

Click to download our Extra-Curricular Programme.

Students can also start applying for iLeader roles that they are interested in and will be encouraged to make applications in Tutor Time. Students can find the application form in the Personal Development folder, in the “Leadership & Influence” section. Students have until Friday 4th of October to apply. If students have any questions, please speak to Mr Boyd.

This was the first time that representatives from local charities and organisations were invited to come to IGS to highlight the link between extra-curricular and leadership activities in school and the world outside IGS.

The organisations which so generously gave of their time last week and which are keen to engage with young people and their families are: Ilkley Rugby Club, Soroptimist International, Ilkley Pride & Diversity Group, Ilkley Cycle Races, Ilkley Community Network, Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks, Christchurch Ilkley, Burley Methodist Church, Ilkley Town AFC, Friends of Ashlands PTA, Ilkley Manor House, Rotary Club of Ilkley, Bradford Youth Service, Ilkley Clean River Group, Ilkley Town Council, Ilkley Fairtrade Group and The Clarke Foley Community Hub.

We know that many members of our student community are already involved with these organisations in various ways, but we are sharing details of these local organisations, many of which are keen to engage with young people, with all parents/carers to support local Active Citizenship opportunities. If, following the Leadership & Enrichment Fayre last week, your child is keen to get involved with any of these organisations, please find the list of organisations, websites and contact details below.

Please note that although IGS works with many of these local organisations in different ways, the volunteering activities they offer are not organised by school.
