Leadership in Action with Professor Becky Malby
Tuesday 12th July 2022
Post-16 welcomed Professor Becky Malby in to school for an afternoon presentation and workshop on how to develop a campaign and become an impactful leader.
Becky drew on her experience leading the Ilkley Clean River Campaign which has achieved national coverage and is regarded as a model for groups up and down the country as well as on her professional work as a Professor of Health Systems Innovation at London South Bank University and as a national leader of Primary Care to talk to student about how to develop and grow a campaign.
This interactive workshop was held with approximately forty Post-16 student leaders who heard about the Clean River Campaign and how Becky both challenged and collaborated with those in power to effect change. At the end of the afternoon students worked in groups to consider how they plan to effect change at school over the coming year in the areas of wellbeing, equality and diversity, Peer mentoring and sustainability. We would like to thank Professor Malby for so generously giving up her time to facilitate the session which was the first one we have been able to hold in person for two years.
