The Year 7 Pastoral team:
Mrs Hessey: Head of Year 7
Loves running and has completed lots of Marathons and Ultra Marathons. Has 4 CRAZY rescue Spaniels! Loves to motorbike. Recently took up cycling and now spends most Sundays in the saddle.

Hi, I am the Y6-7 Transition Leader and will get to know Y6(eventually 7!) students very well in their transition journey to IGS. I have been at IGS 6 years and am a Teacher of PE. Some of you will recognise me for the IGS Wharfe VaI also run extracurricular clubs such as Y7 Boys Football, Tennis, Cross country and Young Farmers Club.
Mr Carr: Assistant Headteacher Students Experience KS3
Hi, I am Student Experience manager for the three year KS3 journey from Y7-Y9. I am actually a PE teacher in disguise, but you will usually see me in a suit. I have been at IGS for 13 years. I have the challenge each year to learn all names in Year 7, 8 & 9!

Your child will have a wealth of support at IGS. Below is our core 2026 team who will guide the silver tie cohort through their first academic year at IGS and beyond! Students will have the chance to meet many of the key pastoral staff multiple times through the transition programme and parents/carers will have the first opportunity to meet some of them at the parent/carer transition launch evening on Thursday 19th March
