PTA UPDATE

July 2023

The PTA held its last meeting of this academic year on Monday 26^th June.

Our last PTA Update noted that we had been shortlisted for the Parentkind PTA Awards under the category of Fundraising Achievement of the Year (for the Ilkley Colour Rush) and I’m delighted to say that we WON!! And we have a shiny trophy to be displayed at school!

Decisions were made at the meeting about how to spend the money we have raised and we have agreed to support a number of initiatives, including:

• Sports equipment for the PE department;
• Cameras and studio lighting for the Art department;
• Equipment to support the creation of a dedicated sensory room;
• Reconditioned iPads for the IT department;
• Lockable display boards; and
• Equipment to support the Eco iLeaders in their recycling campaign.

In terms of fundraising events, our final event of the year was the ILKLEY COLOUR RUSH, which took place on Sunday 2^nd July. Although the very windy conditions were something of a challenge, a great time was enjoyed by all runners and we had an extremely colourful event. Final figures are still to be calculated, but we hope to have raised approximately £3,000.

Meanwhile, our first fundraising event of the new academic year is in the planning stages already. We’ll be running our very popular WINE TASTING EVENING on 17^th November 2023 – SAVE THE DATE!

On a very quick calculation, the PTA have raised £18,500 in the last academic year, which is fantastic, but we can’t do this without volunteers and punters! Thank you to everyone that has made a contribution, however big or small,  to our fundraising efforts this year!!

Sadly, we will be losing two very key members of PTA Committee at the end of this academic year as their children leave school, so we will need to appoint a new CHAIR and SECRETARY in September. And we are always looking for more general support on committee in order to ensure that all the fantastic fundraising that we do can continue.
