AGM and Fundraising Update

The PTA held its Annual General Meeting on Monday 7th November and I am pleased to say that all posts were filled for another year, as follows:

• Chair: Jane Wearing;
• Treasurer: Stephen McCann;
• Secretary: Sara Scott;
• Executive Committee members: Jamie Gutch (Teacher Representative), Martin Brittain & Caroline Grice-Ellis

Thank you to them all for their time and commitment.

It was reported that just over £13,000 was raised by the PTA over the 2021/2022 academic year.

The money raised was committed to the following projects:

• Improve the lighting system in B Hall as an enhancement of the Creative Arts department;
• Fund the PTA Bursary;
• Provide benches for outdoor seating;
• Fund a large number of high-quality images for distribution around the school buildings, in particular to showcase the new school values;
• Refurbish the school library.

The year thankfully saw a return to a full calendar of fundraising events, namely the Wine Tasting Evening, Quiz & Curry Night and inaugural Colour Rush.

We would like to thank everyone that supported these events and also many thanks to those that supported us through registering with Your School Lottery, easyfundraising and Amazon smile.

In terms of fundraising events this coming year, we have just launched the Auction of Promises.

We also have plans for:

• A Wine Tasting Evening on Friday 3rd February 2023
• Our annual Quiz & Curry Night on Friday 31th March 2023.

This year, we are raising money for various items of equipment which it is hoped will further enhance the student experience at IGS, for example:

• Secure information display frames for the toilets;
• Bespoke Values achievement boards;
• First Aid qualifications for staff members;
• Lunchtime queuing barriers and
• Books for a new shared reading initiative...are just some of the things currently under discussion.
