Y13 LEAVER'S DAY 2022
On Friday 13th May our Year 13 students had their final day at IGS!
This was an emotional day after years of hard work, a global pandemic, two lockdowns, many hours of effort and diligent study and a little bit of fun with friends along the way. The students celebrated their maturity and readiness to leave school, as is the time-honoured IGS tradition, by dressing in their school uniforms again!
After a cooked Leaver's Breakfast, provided by the school, and a photo of the year group taken from the balcony, we celebrated with a final assembly, the first one all together as a year group in over two years due to COVID restrictions. Students shared their talents for singing and playing musical instruments, sang together and laughed as videos and photos of their time at IGS were projected on screen. The assembly was ended with a light-hearted awards ceremony for students and gifts from students to staff for their hard work and support over the years. The leavers then went on their way to celebrate this momentous day.
Throughout our time working with this group of young people we have been incredibly impressed by their resilience in challenging circumstances, by their ambition and positivity and their huge potential to make the world a better place. The post-16 years always have their ups and downs and these students have come through theirs in fine style. They are a wonderful group of young people and we’re proud to have been part of their journey.
We wish the Post-16 IGS Class of 2022 all the very best with your exams and that you go onto the next steps destinations that are right for you, whatever they may be!
