Year 7 Enterprise Challenge

This half- term Year 7 tutor groups have undertaken the ‘Design An App’ Challenge. The task was to create an application which would help and support their school experience. The year group have been working hard on the challenge during their weekly PBT sessions starting with the initial individual research, then voting and agreeing on an idea and developing their presentation on Power Point. The challenge culminated with four students from each tutor group presenting their App live in the main hall, Dragon’s Den’ style to a panel of three external judges.

We are very grateful to our volunteer judges for their support:

• Jos Mountcastle, App & Website Developer for Ilkley BID
• Joelle Monkman, Addingham Primary School teacher in Year 6.

The judges were impressed with the creative ideas and digital technology used and voted 7PSW as the winning tutor group and a Top Presenter Award for Joseph L in 7HGW.

The presentations were of a very high standard and there was clear evidence of the hard work students had put in for a fantastic team effort to replicate a customer brief in the modern working world. The challenge has provided our students with an introduction to careers, different job roles and the importance of compromise and team work.

Very well done to all in Year 7 for completing this challenge.
