CREATIVE ARTS SPRING MUSIC CONCERT

Another sell-out event for our Music department.
The evening celebrated the phenomenal work students have been doing as part of their performance coursework and extra-curricular activities. There was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with a cafe style layout with tables, decorated with daffodils (a little touch of Spring!) table lights and refreshments served by the PTA.
Our GCSE and A Level students began the evening, showcasing some of their recent performance examination work; we had a variety of high-quality and very technical performances from a range of instrumentalists and singers.
Students from Year 7 through to Year 12, performed in the second act, including performances of students' own compositions. There were some incredibly touching pieces written, including a protest song written by some of our Year 9 students about the war in Ukraine.
We had a special visitor in the audience, Mark from Ilkley Round Table, who was impressed by all the performers and has invited a second band from IGS to perform on a stage during the Ilkley Half Marathon on Sunday 16th July. Alongside the IGS Battle of the Band winners of 2022, 'The Mustangs', we would like to congratulate our IGS band 'Heritage' (Sam W, James N, Alex H and Finlay C) who have also been offered this exciting performance opportunity. Well done Heritage!
The night would not have been a success without the help of our fantastic student backstage manager, front of house and backstage teams and their help organising and running the event. We're so lucky to have such talented students!
