ANNUAL EVENTS
Music Showcase / Battle of the Bands
November
The IGS Music Department was proud to present this new event in November 2022 which, due to its huge popularity, will be held as an annual event.
Bands are formed at the start of the school year in September and are busy practicing to stand a chance of being crowned the IGS Band Heroes to cement their place in IGS folklore and their name in the IGS Music Hall of Fame. The audience also gets their chance to vote for their favourite band and award the Audience Choice Award.
This year we are holding also showcasing the vast array of musical talent we have at IGS with a concert including performances from a variety of our music groups, ranging from the orchestra and jazz band, to pop choir and ukulele group. Part of the evening will involve the second iteration of the IGS Battle of the Bands, with bands battling to be crowned by independent judges as this year’s IGS Band Heroes. The winning band will go forward to represent IGS at the inaugural Red Kite Battle of the Bands at The Wardrobe, Leeds on Thursday 18th January 2024.
