IGS STUDENTS IN BALLERINA SUCCESS

Jo Sproston, principal of ‘Joze School of Dance’ is proud to announce that six of her young dancers, five of whom are IGS students, have successfully auditioned for the English Youth Ballet. They will be performing alongside professional ballet dancers on stage at St. George’s Hall in Bradford as part of a full length performance of “Coppelia” at the end of April.

The dancers are Tilda D, Matilda T, Amelia M, Millie E, Susanna T and Zara W.

Local Ballerina SuccessEnglish Youth Ballet was founded in 1998. The Founder and Director, Janet Lewis M.B.E., gives opportunities for young ballet dancers outside of London a unique chance to experience life with a professional ballet company performing classical ballets in the regional theatres of England, Scotland and Wales.

‘Joze School of Dance’ runs classes in Ilkley for children and adults of all ages and abilities in classical ballet, contemporary dance, tap, jazz and theatre-dance.

This incredible opportunity is even more significant for the six girls involved as Covid restrictions have resulted in extremely limited chances to perform publicly being available to them for the past twenty-two months.

The whole dance school is proud of them and hopefully many will be able to go and watch the actual performance.
