Anti-bullying week

Reach Out

Monday 14th – Friday 18th November 2022Anti-Bullying Week

The Anti-Bullying team, a large and diverse group of students from many year groups, are passionate about using this week to raise awareness of what they do to tackle bullying and promote kindness. The meetings are a place where the members can discuss, learn, and share their ideas about the issue of bullying and how to act to prevent it at IGS.

The group has also created and published a book about experiences and causes of bullying, with contributions from Simon Armitage, Holly Smale, and Alistair Campbell, and a foreword from Michael Rosen. There will be a display of these books in the library throughout the week, together with a variety of books which have bullying as their central theme.

Please come and have a look!

RESPECT is for sale on ParentPay at a cost of £7.50 or at The Grove Bookshop, Ilkley who have also kindly offered to sell the book as a gesture of support.

The Anti-Bullying team are excited to share what they've done in recent years. All students will watch their short film in form on Tuesday, in which 40 students from different year groups read a poem written by the group using words from KS3 students.

On Wednesday, the Anti-Bullying team are doing a bake sale where you can buy delicious treats made by members of the group. Every 10th buyer will also get a free 'Reach Out' sticker made by a member of the group.

On Thursday, a poster competition will be launched, and on Friday, they will receive a wider reading list of reading recommendations connected to bullying, kindness, tolerance, and respect.
