Year 10 Musical Theatre Workshop
GCSE Drama and BTEC Performing Arts

Our Year 10 Performing Arts and Drama students participated in a two-hour Musical Theatre Workshop run by Nikki Schofield who has been in numerous professional productions of different Musicals and who teaches at TBL College in Leeds.
In this practical workshop the students sang, danced and acted sections of the production 'We Will Rock You'. After a vigorous warm up the students learned part of the stage show's choreography to the song 'We Will Rock You' as well as singing the lyrics. They then brought a key scene to life.
The experience brought back fond memories of our production of the show from 2022 and whetted the students' appetite to know what show we will be doing next year...
The energy and enthusiasm of the students was remarked upon by Nikki who praised them as being her best group yet for their commitment and talents.

The musical workshop was amazing. It really brought a fun and enjoyable taste to musical theatre to me and it is something I will remember and take into my acting singing and dancing in musical theatre performances in the future. It also was a very big boost of confidence for me and helped me not hold back from really having fun and expressing myself!
I really enjoyed the scripted element of the workshop as it was fun and it allowed us to work with people we rarely work with.
I really enjoyed the musical theatre workshop because it allowed me to get to know what each part of musical theatre, acting, singing and dancing, would be like if I carried it on at college. It allowed me to be creative in many different ways. It was great!
I really enjoyed the workshop as it was a fun and engaging experience. The thing I will take away is that it is better to just throw yourself into things.
I enjoyed learning the choreography to We Will Rock You and having the freedom to be creative and add your own ideas to the sections of text. In the future, I’m going to think about using musical theatre in my devised piece.
