Through a rich, well sequenced, challenging, and exciting curriculum, many of our students develop a life-long passion for the arts, a curiosity to know more, and a deep understanding of the subject’s threshold concepts, including both practical and academic elements.

In addition, students develop key life skills such as leadership, critical thinking, confidence, self-expression, resilience, emotional intelligence, teamwork, discipline and improved academic performance in other subjects through the study of and engagement in Creative Arts subjects.

Students are at the very heart of the department, and there are opportunities for students of all age ranges and abilities to engage with a variety of different activities both inside and outside of the classroom; in addition to showcasing artwork, singing, dancing, acting and/or playing a musical instrument, students can secure a role directing the school production, managing sound, lighting, set painting or creating props and/or decorative dressings for events.

Art, Photography, Music and Theatre Studies are all studied right through to A level with many students going on to study the subjects at prestigious colleges and Universities all over the country.

The Creative Arts team are a collaborative collective, working together to produce a variety of high-quality cross-curricular events over the academic year including concerts, productions, and exhibitions.
